Why Is Change So Hard?
When someone becomes aware of their desire to become self-employed, they can experience a variety of truths. Choosing to become an entrepreneur is not something that happens overnight, nor is it black and white, most times it is grey.
The typical work from home entrepreneur has no boss, no set time to start the business day and no boundaries separating work from personal. This transition can be very challenging for most, but if the lifestyle of an entrepreneur is truly what you desire it forces you to change your current lifestyle.
This time period of transition can feel like the snake shedding its skin. It is seen and experienced by everyone you interact with on a daily basis, from your clients to your family members.
Consistency Comes From Within
Just like when someone starts their weight loss journey, their efforts are seen in their mental and physical state. Most of the work, effort, and pain experienced behind the scenes of any transformation is usually not seen. What emanates from them is their tireless effort to reach their own interpretation of success. With any transformation, you MUST be consistent, there is no way around that!!!! Whether you are on a journey to lose weight, build wealth, find love or ANY change from your old life to a new life the key to your success is and will always come down to being consistent. Starting and quitting something over and over will get you nowhere but frustrated.
You MUST Be Your Own Cheerleader And Motivator
Three years ago I started my own entrepreneurial journey that forced me to change my ENTIRE life. From my exercise habits, eating habits, TV and Social media habits to how to think. My journey to becoming an entrepreneur started with a consistent everyday routine. It didn’t matter if it was the weekend or a holiday I stayed on my routine and modified where needed but never wavered.
Consistent action is what brings success, but most entrepreneurs dive in headfirst and exhaust themselves to burn out. You MUST have a balance, but first, you must find it. There is this false narrative in the entrepreneurial culture that if you get enough sleep and not overwork yourself to death will not succeed. That is not true, yes if you work your ass off you will reap what you sow, you may reap it too early in your growth, your health may be impacted in the long run or you are so wound up in your growth that you do not enjoy your success.
Steps Towards Finding Your Entreprenurial Blanace
Step 1. Write out ALL of your goals
Step 2. Analyze and separate what is currently realistic and doable
Step 3. Categorize which are personal, family, and business.
Step 4. Prioritize your list in each category
**Step 5. ONLY chose 2 to focus on for the first month (THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT)
Step 6. Create a routine that fits YOUR lifestyle (not those of people on social media)
- *Step 5- It is important you ONLY focus on two goals for each category because you have to accept that change can be challenging. If you try to change everything at once I promise you will be setting yourself up for failure. YOU WILL NOT grow trying to change it all at once, again just like the gym, you must work yourself up, there are LEVELS of becoming an entrepreneur.
Make A Promise To Your Future Yourself
You must stay focused on your future self, by doing everything you need to do until you become what you want to become. Keep in touch with your true self through meditation, journaling and using your imagination. Stay committed to who you want to become and balance that out with who you are now. One step a time, one problem at a time and one project at a time.
Allow yourself to see your truth, don’t allow your pride to dim your light. Accept what you can change and INTENTIONALLY make moves towards changing it. But be realistic with the amount of time it may take for you to reach a certain level of your goal. And most importantly let go of everything that you can NOT change, let it all work itself out. If you can not change the outcome, why waste energy on it, it is only taking away energy from those areas where you do have control.
Keep Reminders Around Of Your Goals
Create a poster board with pictures and words of your goals. Leave sticky notes in areas like the bathroom and your car where it is somewhat private and you will see it several times a day. When you see them acknowledge them and say them out loud, at that moment allow yourself to feel the feeling of reaching your goal. There is power in our emotions, once we learn what they are and how to control them.
Celebrate Your Milestones
This will sound silly but it is true, be childlike and celebrate the small things. When we were kids we had a part about every little success. Find that inner child and play with him or her.
Listen To Your Body
When you are tired, rest. When you are hungry, eat. When you are lonely, find your people. When your upset, talk to someone or journal. This is not a destination. This is a journey that is ever-changing and never-ending, even after death we have a mission.
