Perfection?

We all strive for it, we all want to achieve what we consider perfect. Nothing is wrong with wanting to be perfect. Problems arise when we start trying to become someone else's image of perfection. Instead of setting our own standards we look to society to tell us what perfect is. The bad thing about society is their picture perfect image of someone changes daily so we're constantly changing ourselves to achieve the unachievable.

I've never been one to conform to societies standards. I've always liked being myself and wanting to be my own person and never followed a set of rules. The older I get the more I realize there are a set of standards I need to adhere to and that's the ones set by God. Obviously God's standards are a lot harder to achieve but with Jesus's love we have room to fail and we aren't judged for making mistakes.

Being Jesus like is perfection. God wants us to be loving and kind and to respect our bodies. All he asks is for us to love and respect one another, do not judge others for how they look. With society this is very hard to do because perfection is all about how you look and the "it" look changes daily. But if we quit trying to be societies way of perfect and look to God's way we would all live a happier life.

We all sin every day so I'm not saying to torture yourself trying to be as perfect as Jesus but to give yourself a break on trying to be something you're not. Jesus loves us regardless of our faults. He loves us for our hearts not our physical features. If we stop caring so much what we look like on the outside we make more time to focus on things that really matter.

Learn to appreciate the wonderful things about yourself. Instead of pointing out everything bad about yourself, start pointing out everything good. God created us all to be different. If he wanted us to be the same he would've made us that way. He loves us for how we are, you should love yourself the same. God wouldn't want you hating something he created, his creations are beautiful and you are one of them.

Set your own set of standards for perfection. Instead of wanting to change your appearance maybe change your attitude about how you view yourself. Start seeing your image as beautiful, see all your flaws as a gift from God setting you apart from everyone else. Instead of worrying about the outside, think about perfection from the inside. Change your thinking, maybe say to yourself smiling every day is how you achieve perfection. Greeting random people with a hello and a smile is how you become perfect. Learning new words, reading the bible more, being kind even when your day is falling apart. Change your thinking from negative to positive. Let's set a new standard of perfection and let it be different for each person because God didn't create us to be the same, he made us all different for a reason and we need to love and appreciate our differences. Love the good and stop worrying about the negative. Positive thinking is how we change ourselves and the world. Perfection comes from love and love should always wins.
